Happy Friday, York!

Here are a few ways to enjoy some local art, food and sunshine this weekend.

Eat up at an Artists’ Feast

Bring a dish or beverage to share and chat with local artists and art enthusiasts at an Artists’ Feast at Creative York West, 118 W. Philadelphia St., York. The gathering from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday is your chance to celebrate art and creativity, make new friends and strengthen the bond of York’s art community. The event is free, and no RSVP is required. Visit creativeyork.org for more info.

York College will also open a new exhibit this weekend, featuring the work of the school’s Appel Arts Fello Anya Felch. While you’re in town, stop by to see a year’s worth of artistic talent produced during her fellowship. The exhibit will remain open through July 2.

Drink beer in a York museum

The York County Heritage Trust Agricultural & Industrial Museum will have a new attraction this weekend – craft beer. As you browse the three-century-old steam engines and farm tools, you can also taste delicious pairings of beer and food from local breweries and restaurants at History Untapped. The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the museum, 217 W. Princess St., York. Can’t make it Saturday? Check out these tips for pairing food and craft beer at home.

Have a ‘Family Fun Day’

Bring the kids to Salem United Church of Christ, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, for some family fun on Saturday. The Family Fun Day festival – from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. – will include carnival games like dunk tank, plinko and Frisbee toss; crafts, face painting, food, vendors, yard sale spaces and more. A small petting zoo will be set up from 10 a.m. to noon, and kids can meet and pose for pictures with the York Revolution mascot, Downtown, from 11 a.m. to noon. Visit the Family Fun Day Facebook page for more info.

Sit back and listen to ‘Sounds of Summer Concert Series’

Let the good times roll with Zydeco-a-Go-Go, a Zydeco band that combines Cajun two-steps with funky New Orleans rhythm and blues and vintage Louisiana Rock and roll. The band will perform at the Springettsbury Township Park Amphitheater, 1501 Mount Zion Road, York, Sunday as part of the township’s free outdoor summer concert series. The show begins at 7 p.m. Can’t make the show? The series will continue at 7 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays through July 31. For a complete schedule and more information, visit www.springettsbury.com.
