Local music businesses prepare for Red Lion Street Fair

The 40th annual Red Lion Street Fair will take place this Saturday at the intersection of Broadway and Main Street in Red Lion. The annual street fair, as always, will host numerous vendors and sources of entertainment, including live music.

The live band was handpicked by first year participant, and The Guitar Spot owner, Chad Ward. Ward has owned the store, located at 30 North Main Street, for three years, and he couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity that the street fair brings.

Ward chose the local group Mason Dixon Line, led by Dean Phillips, who will perform out on the street. Chad also hired popular guitarist Trey Alexander to perform inside his store as well.

“I’m very happy to be a part of the Red Lion Business Association and the Red Lion community,” Ward said. “It’s an excellent opportunity to get people inside the store. We will be participating with a special no interest layaway program this year, too.”

Another local music business, merely two doors down from The Guitar Spot, is run by Tom Anderton. Tom’s Music Trade has been located in Red Lion for the past eleven years. Before 2005, when Anderton opened up his store, he did anything he could to draw interest to his business.

“For five years before I opened up the store I set up out on the street during the fair!” he said, logging in sixteen years of participation in the street fair from Anderton. He is preparing this year by offering 10% off all vinyls and a "buy 3, get the 4th free" deal on all CDs and DVDs.

“It’s usually my busiest day of the year, and I get exposed to a lot of new people and potential customers who come in my store for the very first time. Some even live right down the street,” Anderton said.
