Welcome to the weekend, York!

From a beach party at Mudhook Brewing Co. to a family fun carnival in Red Lion, here are some fun ways to spend your Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the county.

Mudhook’s Beach Party

Can’t make it to the beach this year? Then take a trip to downtown York instead, where you’ll find that Mudhook Brewing Co. has transformed itself into an island paradise. From Aug. 19-21, you’ll find live music, beach-themed food and drink specials, a dunk tank and 12 tons of sand, plus free Frisbees for the first 25 people who arrive after 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Night at the Museum

Kids ages 10-15 are in for a treat this weekend. At 6:30 p.m. Friday, they’ll be invited to spend the night at Indian Steps Museum learning about Native-American traditions like feather smudging and storytelling around the campfire.

The event also includes a movie, snacks, s’mores and a few other surprises.

$25 admission includes all activities, breakfast and a commemorative T-shirt.

Harvest Hoedown

Put on your dancing shoes and head to Logan’s View Winery in Glen Rock because it’s time for the Harvest Hoedown. From 4-8 p.m. Saturday, you can enjoy live music from the Sabrina Duke Trio and barbecue from Brown’s Catering. Admission also includes a wine glass and wine tastings.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 the day of. Lawn chairs, canopies and additional food are welcome.

Family Fun Carnival

Pack a towel and a camera for this free Family Fun Carnival in Red Lion, which includes a water slide, petting zoo, inflatables, games and more. Festivities go from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View BIC Church in Red Lion.

Cupcake Day

Sunday is Cupcake Day!

Bring your children to decorate a free cupcake, make crafts and play games at Red Brick Bakery and Tea Room. The party goes from noon to 3 p.m. Lunch, sweets and tea will be available at a regular price.

Water Run 2016

Saturday will be full of watery shenanigans at this year’s Water Run at Spring Grove Area High School. Participants will charge through waterfalls and dodge blasts of water at this 5K, starting at 8 a.m. A 1-mile race is also available for those who wish to walk, and a Tiny Tot Sprinkler Zone will be set up for kids 5 and under.

Registration is $25 in advance or $30 on race day.

The proceeds will benefit the York Polar Bears ice hockey team, one of the only sports teams in York County for kids with special needs.
