Sound Lab Artist Profile: Olivia Farabaugh
We're back with another edition of the Sound Lab, where we highlight local musicians. This month, a familiar face returns to the pages of Lebanon Daily News and FlipSidePA.com, as Palmyra's Olivia Farabaugh joined us in the studio this month.
Name: Olivia Farabaugh.
Location: Palmyra.
Musical talents: Singing, guitar and loop pedal.
Activities outside of music: Hairstylist, volunteer at Palmyra High School track and cross country team, member of anti-bullying organization in Palmyra.
When you got started: "I’ve played guitar and started songwriting since the fifth grade, and I really started playing at places after I graduated high school."
Musical influences: "I'd say Miranda Lambert nationally. Steve Creder is my guitar teacher, so him, too. Ed Sheeran is my most recent musical influence."
Favorite type of music: Country
Favorite album: "Ed Sheeran’s “X” (multiply). I could listen to that for days."
Favorite song: "My favorite song of all time is “What Was I Thinking” by Dierks Bentley."
Most meaningful song that you’ve written: "It's probably a song called “Colors,” off of my “Prisoner of War” album.
Style of music: "I feel like it’s a blend of singer/songwriter, country and soul."
Favorite song to cover: "My favorite song to cover is either “Gun Powder and Lead” by Miranda Lambert or “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash."
Number of albums: "I have one album, but I just did a re-release with a new single."

Biggest performance: "Live, it would have to be Thon 2016. Recorded performance would be my performance on “The Voice.”
Favorite performance: "That’s hard. It would probably be Thon because of the energy in the room. It was cool at “The Voice” because of meeting all of those people."
Where do you see yourself in five years musically: "I’d love to be traveling and doing music. That’s my dream. That’s any musician’s dream. My goal last year was to open up for people at fairs, and that’s coming true this summer. I’m resetting my goals to hopefully travel and get different shows at different places."
Advice to aspiring musicians: "You get what you put into it. You have to work hard. It doesn’t just come to you. You have to go after it. If you love it, go after it. Why not?"
Favorite part about performing: "My favorite part is just being able to let people escape through music. You can see just a different side of people. When they hear a song they like, they just light up."
What’s up next for you: "I’m opening up for Dylan Scott at Lebanon County Fair. It’s the 60th annual birthday bash. I’m working on an EP right now, too. I don’t have a date yet, but it’s in the works."
