10 can't-miss shows in Hershey: Carrie Underwood, 'Rocky Horror'
Central Pennsylvanians don't have to travel far for a variety of great entertainment. This fall, Hershey will host shows at both the Giant Center and Hershey Theatre that run the gamut, from country music to hard rock to a cappella groups to a Broadway show.
Here's a snapshot of what you can see this fall in Hershey.
Elton John
Elton John will come to Hershey after headlining the Apple Music Festival in London. He and his piano will belt out classic tunes, as well as newer hits, like "Candle in the Wind."
When: Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. at Giant Center

Carrie Underwood
At Carrie Underwood's "Storyteller" tour, you will hear country music, but you will see cutting edge production values. With psychedelic lights, several set pieces, and many costume changes, Underwood is giving all those pop princesses a run for their money.
When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Giant Center

Jason Isbell with Josh Ritter
Award-winning musician Jason Isbell is bringing his brand of Americana music to Hershey. He's touring in support of his latest album, "Something More Than Free," which won a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. Follow him on Twitter, @JasonIsbell, where he's very active, to see lots of selfies and shout-outs to the cities where he performs. He's joined by singer-songwriter Josh Ritter.
When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at at Hershey Theatre

Dream Theater
The progressive rock band Dream Theater is bring their rock opera to Hershey. In January, Dream Theater released their ambitious double album, "The Astonishing," that features a full orchestra, large choruses and a few unusual instruments.

John Mellencamp
After a four-year hiatus, John Mellencamp is releasing a new album on Sept. 23. "Plain Spoken" includes "Troubled Man," a track that he produced himself, and features mainly acoustic guitar. He brings his "Plain Spoken" tour to Hershey, after performing for Farm Aid 2016 in Virginia in September.
When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Hershey Theatre

"Goonies"
Join the gang on their quest to find One-Eyed Willy's treasure, and to save their homes from being torn down. "Goonies" stars a young Sean Astin ("Lord of the Rings") and Josh Brolin ("No Country for Old Men"), as well as Corey Feldman ("Stand By Me") and Martha Plimpton ("Raising Hope").
When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Hershey Theatre

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
Fox may be airing a remake of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" on Oct. 20, but you can see the original at Hershey Theatre, just in time for Halloween. Be sure to leave your toast and water pistols at home; no outside props are allowed. However, prop bags will be on sale in the lobby for $6.

Goo Goo Dolls
The Goo Goo Dolls are back! "Boxes," their new album, is out more than 20 years after their first big hit, "Name." Instead of songs written only by frontman John Rzeznik, "Boxes" features collaborations with Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac, as well as Gregg Wattenberg, Derek Fuhrmann and Drew Pearson.
When: 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Hershey Theatre

Keith Urban
Keith Urban is mixing more and more technology into his music. The "Ripcord" tour gives him and his band an opportunity to show off their new licks, as well as their new light show. Look for "Break on Me," "Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)," "Wasted Time" and "The Fighter" on the setlist, as well as tracks from older albums.
When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at at Giant Center

"The Book of Mormon"
"The Book of Mormon" is the Tony Award-winning show from the creative team behind "South Park." In other words, this is not a family-friendly show! "The Book of Mormon" is a musical about two young missionaries who head to Africa, but soon find out that their mission may not be as successful as they thought it would be.
When: Nov. 22 to Nov. 27 at Hershey Theatre
Cost: $40-$90
Five Finger Death Punch and Shinedown
Two rock bands will headline a head-banging, guitar-shredding show in Hershey. Five Finger Death Punch is touring to support their album "Got Your Six," which debuted at the top of the Hard Music Album chart. Shinedown brings their top-selling singles, including their latest, "Asking For it," along with track from their previous albums. They're joined by SIXX:AM and As Lions.
When: 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at Giant Center

Straight No Chaser
Having ten men in a musical group makes for a rich harmony. The a cappella group Straight No Chaser brings their "I'll Have Another... World Tour" to Hershey. They have vocal arrangements for classic songs, like "Proud Mary," as well as newer hits, like "Can't Feel My Face."
When: 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at Hershey Theatre
