Greencastle is kicking off the weekend with its First Friday event, and this month's theme is "Carnival." Wine Down Friday
Sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of wine ... and some art. Listen to music on the Waynesboro square from Island Fusion performing island tunes, Jimmy Buffet hits and more or watch Ed Beard demonstrate wood burning techniques. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Cirque Italia visits the Hagerstown Premium Outlets for a special performance. This European-style circus features a beautiful water stage complete with colorful lights and 35,000 gallons of water and performances such as aerial acts, hand balancing, contortionists, hula hoops and more. The Navy Sea Chanters will perform this Saturday evening at Hagerstown Community College. The ensemble of 20 voices performs choral arrangements of music from traditional sea chants to patriotic favorites, opera selections and Broadway show tunes, as well as works written especially for them by contemporary composers. The 40th annual Mercersburg Lions Community Fair begins this Sunday evening with a vespers service, followed by a summer band concert by the Mercersburg Community Band. The event will also feature a fireworks show that evening, and activities such as Karaoke with Big Fish DJ, a chicken barbecue and fair rides taking place throughout the week.
