Get your fill of Blues, Brews and Barbecue Saturday in Chambersburg


CHAMBERSBURG >> Fix your cabin fever and celebrate an especially appreciated 2015 spring season at the 5th annual Blues, Brews and Barbecue, happening Saturday in the Back Lot at Capitol Theatre Center.

The annual event will go on, rain or shine, 1 to 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit Capitol Theatre Center Foundation, a 501 (c)3 cultural arts organization.

Blues, Brews and Barbecue 2015 has an all new line-up of great blues and bluegrass bands, plus barbecue vendors and local/regional craft beers and more. A lively and fun combination of delicious, mouthwatering barbecue and upbeat bands will have you tapping your feet and moving about. Add in a diverse selection of craft beers by Ace Distributing for a fun, outdoor, festival-like experience.

Everyone must show ID to consume alcohol. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Band schedule

• Drymill Road, 1-2:45 p.m.: This four-piece band from Winchester, Virginia is popular up and down the East Coast and Canada for crafting old-time newgrass/bluegrass with upbeat instrumentation and fantastic harmonizing vocals. They perform high energy and heartfelt original material, with a good mix of traditional music and "not so" traditional takes on Led Zeppelin, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles to name a few. • Terry Oates and the Mudcats, 3-4:45 p.m.: Top talent dedicated to the American blues experience. High energy, seven-piece band from Winchester, Virginia based on traditional blues influences with a modern flair. The "blues" has spawned many offshoots of music, including; country, jazz, big band, swing, rock, funk, R&B, soul, Motown and other styles popular in America today. This band incorporates all of these styles of music creating not just a blues show band but an American band performing the all-encompassing American blues influence. • Kelly Bell Band, 5-6:30 p.m.: Voted the Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region 12 years in a row, the seven-piece Kelly Bell Band from Baltimore is "among the most genre-expanding acts on today's blues scene. Who else can combine elements of hip-hop, funk, and blues-electrified here, Delta there, horn driven elsewhere - and still manage to sound sincere? A forward view of the way blues is transitioning in today's scene Bell's an honest poet and an outstanding singer with lots to say," according to Blues Revue Magazine. Brews

A selection of local and regional craft beers will be provided by Ace Distributing, which will represent a variety of breweries including Chambersburg's Roy Pitz and more The hallmark of craft beer and craft brewers is innovation, and Blues, Brews and Barbecue will have what's new and unique. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

BBQ

On the menu, to complement the blues and the brews, will be the tasty barbecue by McCollums BBQ of Fayetteville, and crowd favorite Hempen Hill BBQ of Hagerstown, Maryland. Enjoy North Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches, thin sliced pit beef sandwiches, smoked jumbo chicken wings,

slow smoked baby back ribs, smoked mac and cheese, creamy coleslaw and a whole lot more.

Tickets

Everyone must show ID to consume alcohol. All ages require admission fee.

The cost of tickets is $10, which includes entry into event, entertainment, and a souvenir glass (while supplies last) — or — $7 for a designated driver ticket, which includes entry into event, entertainment. Food and beverages sold separately.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy small games of chance. Blues, Brews and Barbecue tickets are available in advance or at the door.

The Box Office is located inside the main entrance to Capitol Theatre at 159 S. Main St. in Chambersburg, and is open 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

No pets allowed — service pets only.

No coolers/containers or outside food or beverages.

Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.
