York's Pullo Center: A look back at 10 years of shows

This season, Penn State York's Pullo Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a concert and event venue.

The theater opened its doors at 1031 Edgecomb Ave., Spring Garden Township, on Aug. 25, 2005.

Through the years, the 1,016-seat venue has booked top-selling Broadway musicals, Comedy Central comedians, popular recording artists and other national touring acts.

Looking Ahead

After 10 years in operation, the Pullo Center isn't showing any signs of slowing down.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the theater will offer a row of $10 tickets for most of its shows, director of sales and marketing Chris Beaverson said.

Those tickets go fast, he said, so plan to get them right when they go on sale.

Here are some of the top shows to look forward to this season.

Nate Ruess

You know him as the lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning indie pop band Fun. But this time, Nate Ruess is going solo as he brings his Campus Consciousness Tour to York. Expect to hear songs like "Nothing Without Love" from his debut solo album "Grand Romantic" as well as some of Fun's top hits.

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22

Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox

If you pay any attention to YouTube stars, you've heard of pianist Scott Bradlee. He gained fame on social media by posting videos of himself performing current pop hits in a vintage style. Imagine Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" performed as a '50s doo wop number or Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" performed with a '20s jazz influence. That's what you can expect at a Scott Bradlee show.

When: 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4

Jeff Ross

Get ready to laugh when Comedy Central's Jeff Ross comes to town. He's known for creating and starring on "The Burn With Jeff Ross" on Comedy Central, and he also recently appeared in the film "The Wedding Ringer" with Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. Don't bring the kids to this show. The content is for mature audiences only.

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7

"VeggieTales Live!"

Now, here's a show the whole family can enjoy. Your favorite tomato and cucumber and the rest of their veggie friends will perform silly songs like "The Hairbrush Song" and "I Love My Lips."

When: 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14

Cost: $10, $25, $38, $75 for VIP, which includes a post-show meet-and-greet with the characters.

Molly Ringwald

Celebrate 30 years of "The Breakfast Club" with Molly Ringwald herself. Ringwald, also known for her roles in "Sixteen Candles" and "Pretty in Pink," will be present for a showing of the movie, followed by an interactive discussion and Q&A.

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10

Cost: $10, $45, $125 for VIP, which includes a meet-and-greet with Molly Ringwald.

Celtic Nights

This group of Irish singers, dancers and musicians will fill the stage with rich Celtic music, both old and new.

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15

Cost: $10, $38, $50

Symphonic Soundtracks

From Strauss' "Sprach Zarathustra" from "2001: A Space Odyssey" to Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" from "Apocalypse Now," the Pennsylvania Philharmonic will fill the theater with memorable music from popular films.

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8
