Alabama to perform at 2016 York Fair
Country band and York Fair favorite Alabama will once again bring its down-home country sound to the 2016 York Fair grandstand stage Sept. 17.
The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., according to a news release.
Tickets are $39, $44, $49 and $54, and will be available at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the York Fair Box Office on Carlisle Avenue, by phone at 717-848-2033 and online at www.yorkfair.com.
The ticket price includes admission to the fair.
Here are four things to know about the band.
- Alabama originally performed under the name Wildcountry before changing its name in 1977.
- The band achieved its largest success in the 1980s, when it had seven multi-platinum albums and more than 25 No. 1 hits, including “Tennessee River,” “Mountain Music,” “If You’re Gonna Play in Texas” and “Song of the South.”
- Alabama has performed at the York Fair a record 24 times since 1981.
- Today, the band has achieved more than 40 No. 1 hit singles and has sold more than 73 million records. Alabama has also won two Grammy Awards, seven CMA Awards, eight Entertainer of the Year awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
