6 concerts to see in York this May

The rain put a bit of a damper on National Concert Day in York.

What was supposed to be the first show of downtown York's annual Box Lunch Revue concert series in Cherry Lane ended up being cancelled due to the inclement weather.

But, there are still plenty of other opportunities to see live music in York, even before the summer concert season officially kicks off.

Here are six concerts to see in York before Memorial Day.

Patrick Sweany

Expect to hear a mishmash of blues, folk, soul, bluegrass and maybe even some classic ‘50s rock at Patrick Sweany’s Kable House Presents show. Over the years, the blues-rock musician from Ohio has recorded two albums produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and performed at festivals, including as Newport Folk Fest, Merlefest and Montreal Jazz Fest. But now, Sweany is bringing his act to York. He’ll perform an intimate show at Central Market House on May 13. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14.

Margaret Glaspy will open the show with guitar-driven pop songs from her debut album “Emotions and Math” due out June 17. Tickets range from $27 to $40.

Chris Lane

This country singer, known for his 2015 single “Fix,” will headline the first concert of the Pullo Center’s new Horizon Series at 7:30 p.m. May 27. The series is the result of a partnership between the Pullo Center and NASH 106.7 to bring rising country stars to York. And after opening for top country artists like Florida Georgia Line and achieving more than 3 million streams on Spotify, Lane certainly fits the bill. Tickets range from $19 for general admission to $40 for a VIP package.
