Out and About in Lebanon: Try an oldies' dance, spring tea or see stars dancing on Hershey stage

If you like dancing and if you like animals, you can feed two needs at once this weekend by going to the Humane Society's "Oldies Dance" in Richland. Your $20 ticket will go far to help our furry friends.

As the weather warms, there are more excuses to go outside and attend some fun events...whether you're looking for a proper English tea or just want to rock out, events are starting to blossom. To paraphrase a favorite "X-Files " line (if anyone remembers); "The fun is out there."

7 P.M. SATURDAY >> The Humane Society of Lebanon County is holding an "Oldies Dance" from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Neptune Fire Hall, Richland. You don't have to be an "oldie" to attend, you just have to like good old solid rock and roll! Music will be by "DJ Dave," and tickets are $20 each. The ticket price includes hot dogs, barbecue, snacks, soda and bottled water. BYOB...and there is a silent auction, too!

If you like the music of the '60s and if you want to help some wonderful animals who are in desperate need, get on down to the Neptune Fire Hall! The doors open at 6 p.m.

Donations are also gladly accepted. You can bring your donations right to the door at the dance. The Humane Society is looking for dog and cat treats, kitty litter, kitten food, paper towels and bleach.

9 A.M., SATURDAY, APRIL 18 >> The youth group of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 600 South 12th St., Lebanon, will be holding a used bike drive this day, until noon. The bikes will benefit local residents as well as people in other countries. A $10 donation is suggested to assist with bikes to be shipped. The program is part of "pedals for progress" and asks you to put used bikes to good use. For more information or for pick-up, call Scott at 949-2972. This is a rain or shine event!

7 P.M., SUNDAY, JUNE 21 >> For the first time since 2007, "Dancing With The Stars: Live!" will return to Hershey. Hosted by Dancing With The Stars All-Stars champion Melissa Rycroft, the "Perfect Ten Tour" is bringing a one-of-a-kind touring production to Giant Center on Sunday, June 21 at 7 p.m.

This will be a 90-minute action-packed live show, with exciting and romantic performances and featuring some of the most memorable musical numbers from all 10 years of the "Dancing With The Stars" show.

1:30 P.M., FRIDAY, MAY 8 >> The Seventh Annual Lebanon County Community Action Partnership (CAP) Golf Tournament will be held to benefit FORE (Female Offender Re-Entry Program) which provides services, including education and advocacy, to female offenders in Lebanon County.

The tournament will feature a "shotgun start" and will take place at the Royal Oaks Golf Club at 3350 Oak Street, Lebanon. For a four-person scramble, entry fee is $75 per player and that includes greens fee and cart, bucket of range balls, three beverage tokens, BBQ chicken and burger dinner and a goodie bag which includes delicious baked goods.

Chances to win throughout the day are: Pro shop gift certificates for the top three teams, of $75, $50, and $25, for closest to the pin and longest drive, pot of gold "50/50" prize, and raffle prizes of clubs, bags, balls and many more.

You can wear your best chapeau and elbow-length gloves if you really feel like goin' 'Downton,' but you don't have to get all fancied up, either, just come and enjoy delicious tea sandwiches, scones and luscious desserts, along with the best East Indies tea and coffee with the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts at 734 Willow Street, Lebanon. Tickets are $18 per person and the event will continue until about 5 p.m. The feature for the day will be a special one-day showing of prints by Martin Barry, Robert Bateman, and Wallace Nutting. 7 P.M. FRIDAY >> Hard rock....Christian rock.....how does that work? Let "Scarlet Raven" show you. The Indiana-based band is a Christian hard rock band and will be performing at Legends Cafe at 9 South Ninth Street this coming Friday evening. SUNDAY, APRIL 12 >> Jason Coleman, pianist and grandson of the legendary Nashville pianist Floyd Cramer, will perform a concert in a tribute to his grandfather in the William Starr Auditorium in Lebanon High School. A limited number of single tickets will be available at the door or on the website "LCCCA.net," and are $30 for adults, $5 for students. 1 p.m. Saturday >> Families with children who have special needs are invited to enjoy an "Egg-stra Special" Easter egg hunt at the Expo Center in conjunction with the DDS Empowerment Auction, which will also be at the Expo Center. The egg hunt is open to children of all ages and is sponsored by Covenant United Methodist Church.

8 P.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 25 >> Come on out to hear one of the country's best oldies band -The Hubcaps! - at the Eagles Auditorium, 116 N. Eighth St., Lebanon. Proceeds from this jammin' event will benefit the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors. Tickets are $20 and include snacks and soda. Historic Schaefferstown Inc. will be inviting antique appraiser Terry Breidenstine to give his opinion on your antiques from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Thomas Brendle Museum, along North Market Street in Schaefferstown.
