Grab your mom and bond over to May's Moms on Main for First Friday. The May 1 event is great for both moms looking for a girls' night out or moms looking to bond with their children at various events from 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown York.

About 60 different locations are offering food, fun and games related to ladies' favorite things.

Here are five must-see stops along the way:

1. Say Cheese

Smile wide and head to North Beaver Street where the Beaver Street Merchants will bring in a professional photographer to take portraits of moms. Stick around and check out the other outdoor happenings on the block between Market and Philadelphia streets.

Studio 117 at 117 S. Duke St. in Royal Square also will be offering glamour shots for mother-daughter duos.

2. Sweet scents

Head to Redeux Marketplace at 113 S. Duke St. in Royal Square to create your own bouquet, with the help of Butera the florist.

3. Get your glam on

Head to Didi and Smiling John's at 119 S. Duke St. Royal Square to get mini makeovers. Light makeup and hair styling is available for $40 and will have ladies ready for a night out on the town.

4. Mother's Day Concert

Make time to visit the Cherry Lane Stage between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. for the Company of Praise Youth Choir of Stewartstown United Methodist Church . The group is made up of 35 high school singers and 12 musicians from six school districts. The group, led by Dave McDowell, has performed at Disney World, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and sporting events.

5. Tea time

Grace Manor Bread and Breakfast at 258 W. Market St. will put the kettle on for an elegant tea party to honor mothers. Bring your garden hat or borrow one there for a delightful time in the courtyard.

Other things to check out:

• WellSpan Health will be on Beaver Street celebrating spring's leafy greens with cooking demonstrations and samples of the WellSpan Powerhouse Smoothie and chicken enchiladas. A leafy greens tasting table also will feature items for kids.

• Visit Elizabeth and West, 15 N. Beaver St., for a one year anniversary party with new arrivals, discounts and fashion cash.

• York College will offer an inflatable obstacle course on Beaver Street

• Friends The Salon, 141 W. Market St., will host a celebrity makeup artist who was featured on the Wendy Williams Show.
