Photos: 6 creative costumes from York's Masquerade Ball

York loves Halloween.

At least that's what Downtown Inc. marketing director Meagan Feeser said, judging by the sold-out crowd at the organization's Masquerade Ball fundraiser Saturday.

"We knew it was a time of year that people are eager to celebrate," she said. And she was right.

Three hundred people dressed up in masks of all kinds - from classy to creepy - for the second annual event at the Market & Penn Street Farmers Market. The party also included a cocktail hour, sit-down dinner catered by The Accomac, dancing, a photo booth (check out photo booth photos here), tarot card readings and caricatures.

Here's a look at some of the most creative masks and costumes from the Masquerade.

Downtown Inc. started the event, which is part of its All Hallows Weekend, last year after realizing that York doesn't have many events where guests can dress up and dance, Feeser said.

Last year, the party was held at the old post office in York. But this year, Downtown Inc. decided to move the location as a way to draw attention to the "major revitalization," which will eventually bring an indoor growing space and more features to the market.

Feeser said the goal is to highlight a different "white elephant building" - a building that is either not being used or is about to be redeveloped - every year.

Downtown Inc.'s All Hallows' Weekend continues Sunday with the Angel Amble/Devil Dash 5K and the York Halloween Parade.
