Report: Cormac McCarthy not dead; 'rogue' Twitter account responsible for hoax


Earlier reports of the death of author Cormac McCarthy are not true, according to an article on Entertainment Weekly.

The news, which came from a Twitter account impersonating publisher Alfred A. Knopf, was delivered in a tweet reading "URGENT: Author Cormac McCarthy dies for stroke at 82," according to the article.

After the tweet was published, Knopf's director of publicity Paul Bogaards shared that reports of McCarthy's death are "not true" and that the account appeared to be a hoax of some kind, the article stated.
