Four comedy shows to check out in October
Comedy shows to watch for in November
•Jerry Seinfeld at the Hershey Theatre at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5;
•Jeff Ross — a comedian known for his roasts of Donald Trump, Charlie Sheen and others — at The Pullo Center at Penn State York at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
•Gabriel Iglesias, a comedian and actor who appeared in the "Magic Mike" films, at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Hershey Theatre;
•Jim Breuer, a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York.
•Comedic improvisers Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood at the Hershey Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22.
Here is a look at four comedy acts coming to southcentral Pennsylvania in October.
Wanda Sykes
What she's known for: The comedian and actress has appeared in: Amazon's "Alpha House" about a group of Republican senators who share a D.C. house; HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm"; and CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine." She was the featured comedian at the White House Correspondents' Association's annual dinner in 2009.
Sample comedy: During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Sykes talked about the changes she made after becoming an executive producer of "Last Comic Standing," a comedy competition show. She said they improved the caliber of judges.
"And we said America's not allowed to vote, because they don't know any better," she said. "They don't. America's awful at voting."

Earl David Reed
What he's known for: He's a comedian, radio personality and bodybuilder. He's a co-host of "The People's Morning Show" on 105.7 The X. He appeared in "Bill Engvall's New All Stars Of Country Comedy, Volume 2" along with Larry the Cable Guy and others.
Sample comedy: During one show, he made fun of a couple in the audience who said they had been married for 24 years and met in school. He called that lazy. He said:
"You know what that is? That's like looking at each other senior year and going, 'You know what, we ain't gonna do no better than this. I guess we better stick together, huh?'
"I went to a wedding the other day. The guy was getting married for the fourth time — the fourth time — to the woman he was married to the second time. You don't marry someone you've been married to before. You know what that's like? That's like drinking milk that's sour and putting it back in the refrigerator, 'cause you think it's going to be good tomorrow."

Dave Chappelle
What he's known for: His Comedy Central show ran for two full seasons and a truncated third season. He walked away from a reported $50 million deal to continue doing the show. Entertainment Weekly recently reported that he performed only occasionally for several years after the end of the show, but he's kicking off a multicity tour this month.
Sample comedy: During an interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Chappelle talked about his late arrival to social media. He said:
"At first I went on Facebook. I type my name in. They were like, 'You cannot use celebrity names.' I was like, 'word.' ...So then I see a fake Dave Chappelle on Facebook, so I'm like, 'Who is this guy?' So I try to look at his page, and, you know, I couldn't see it unless I was his friend. And then I clicked the thing.
"He has not accepted my friend request."
He found another fake Dave Chappelle on Twitter with the real Chappelle's picture.
"And it turned out, Jimmy, the guy was like hilarious," Chappelle said.

"Last Comic Standing" Live Tour
What the show's known for: Finalists from the NBC comedy competition, now in its ninth season, will perform in York. This season, the show says contestants are competing for a prize package worth $250,000, including a development deal for a TV show.
Notable former contestants include Amy Schumer, who has a sketch comedy series on Comedy Central and who wrote and starred in the film "Trainwreck" earlier this year.
Sample comedy: Here are some jokes from a semi-finals episode.
Clayton English told the crowd that hanging out more will help fix racism. He said:
"My white friends ask me all the time: Look, we're going to do extreme sports. You want to go hang gliding, ATV riding, wild-boar hunting, whitewater rafting? I'm like let's do it.
"But they don't never want to come with me and do black people extreme sports. No, they don't never want to get in the car with me -- with no license, no registration, one headlight out, an expired tag. And then we drive from the hood to the nice part of town and see how far we can get. No, they never want to go."
Taylor Tomlinson talked about her relationships. She said:
"I just found out that my ex is building orphanages in Africa ... dodged that bullet! Am I right? Oh, that was close.
"No, it was never going to work out with him. We had totally different goals. Like, he wanted to be married in a few years and I wanted to be happy in a few years."
