Adams Co. Winery donates to SPCA

Adams County Winery presented a check in the amount of $6,217.02 to the Adams County SPCA on Jan. 28. This donation will mark the ninth year of the winery’s staff fundraising effort to support the not-for-profit group.

In 2015, the primary fundraising event for the shelter was the Sixth Annual Rusty’s Birthday Bash in celebration of Rusty, the winery’s Golden Retriever “VIP”, or very important pet. Hundreds of visiting dogs and their owners enjoyed live music, food demonstrations, custom wine labels for pets and people, and a Rusty’s Sidekick Photo Contest. This one-day event, as well as the donations from guests at the winery and the custom labeled bottles of wine “Rusty’s Red”, helped raise the donated funds.

The winery will host the Seventh Annual Rusty’s Birthday Bash on June 18, 2016. This year’s Birthday Bash will feature live music, a birthday cake made especially for Rusty and guests, a Doggie Wine Walk, hot dog cookout, Rusty’s Sidekick Contest, and much more. Adams County Winery once again will try to answer the call for the much needed donations by the Rick & Sally Meyers Animal Shelter/Adams County Society. “Helping to raise additional funds for this cause is definitely a priority in 2016. If you love animals, please make plans now to come to the Annual Rusty’s Birthday Bash and help the winery continue our work in raising funds for animal rescue efforts,” stated Katie Martin, special projects manager. Donations to the Adams County SPCA can be made year round at any of the Adams County Winery locations.
