Take a hike along the C&O Canal Towpath


HARPERS FERRY, W.VA. - Hike seven miles round-trip, or three and a half miles one way from Harpers Ferry to Dargan's Bend, West Virginia, on Sunday, Feb. 21, with the Trail and Town Alliance of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar.

The hike will begin in the upper town of Harpers Ferry and cross the Potomac River, following the C&O Canal Towpath past river rapids, historic locks and the remains of an old dam. The hike is flat except for the beginning and ending and is rated easy for those in moderate condition.

Hikers will meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Fillmore Street parking lot, just behind the old school building and across Storer College Way from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in the upper town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Those hiking one-way should meet the at Dargan's Bend parking lot at 4:15 p.m. (Email or call if directions are needed.)

There is no charge for the hike and a ride back to your car can be provided.
