Hagerstown airport hosts Young Eagles

HAGERSTOWN, MD. - Hagerstown Regional Airport and Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 36 will host the Young Eagles breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13 and Sept. 10 at Hagerstown Regional Airport, 18434 Showalter Road, Hagerstown, Maryland.

Whether you drive-in or fly-in, participants can enjoy a day of food and plane rides, weather permitting.

Free flights will be offered for ages 8 - 17 from 9 a.m. - noon. Enjoy breakfast before your flight and have lunch afterwards. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under eat for free.

The Young Eagles Program started in 1991 after a survey of longtime EAA members suggested that EAA's primary objective should be to involve more young people in aviation. The survey also showed that a flight experience inspired an interest in aviation.

The mission of the EAA Young Eagles Program is to provide a meaningful flight experience - free of charge - in a general aviation aircraft for young people (primarily between the ages of 8 and 17). Flights are provided by EAA members worldwide.
