Watch Ben Higgins propose on 'The Bachelor' finale

Monday evening brought us the moment that we've all been waiting for--if we're honest, since current Bachelor Ben Higgins told former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe on her season that he feared he might be unlovable. Yes, in our fantasies we were the ones to show him just how lovable he is, but regardless, we're happy that he's found the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with--even if not all of the couples from the franchise make it down the aisle.

So who did Ben choose? Was it Lauren B. or JoJo? If social media hasn't spoiled it for you, sit tight and get ready to scroll down for the dramatic ride.

At a live finale viewing party in Hollywood, Lauren B. and JoJo's parents were both in studio, in addition to Ben's pastor who could've performed the ceremony at a moment's notice because this is what you get when you tell Chris Harrison at The Women Tell All that you would marry your fiancée tomorrow if you could. Oh, Chris!

Now, let's get on with the finale. The episode opened with a very excited Lauren B. overjoyed that to know that Ben loves her. Little did she know that Ben told two women that he loved them in an episode that aired two weeks ago.

A confident JoJo also said that she had "zero doubts" because she knew where Ben stood since he so freely expressed his feelings. Boy, this After the Final Rose could be very emotional for somebody.

How was Ben feeling? Well...

Meeting the parents

Lauren B. was the first one to meet Ben's parents, David and Amy. With wine and flowers in hand, Lauren B. said that she wanted to convey to her possible future in-laws how much she loves their son.

She told David that she was "very much" in love with Ben and that she was ready to get engaged, which seemed to win David over.

But Amy, the real star of these introductions, seemed to need more convincing.

After meeting the parents, Lauren B. emphasized to Ben that she only wanted to get married one time, and that she was ready to get engaged. She also said that she would marry Ben tomorrow. Careful what you wish for and who you say that around, girl!

Next, it was JoJo's turn to get acquainted with Ben's parents, and she was very nervous. She was emotional around David and Amy, and Ben's mom seem to appreciate JoJo's raw emotion. Mrs. Higgins admitted that meeting JoJo "felt different" than meeting Lauren B.

And we're going to admit that we love Amy Higgins! She wears her heart on her sleeve, and doesn't just tell her son what she thinks he wants to hear. Again, we kick ourselves for not trying out to be on this show, because in addition to being Ben's wifey, we could've had Amy as a mother-in-law!

When JoJo left, Ben asked for his parents' advice. David said that Lauren B. was "very polished," and Amy said that both women were so wonderful that no matter who Ben decided to propose to, she would probably feel a little disappointed.

Final dates

Ben and Lauren B. reunited for one last date. They went sailing on a catamaran, and she could tell that he had a lot on his mind. When she asked him about his concerns, Ben began to spiral like Amy warned us he could.

He told Lauren B. that he was freaked out because everything between them had been so perfect. And, in an on-camera interview, Ben said that since their relationship hadn't been tested, he wasn't sure what life would look like if things got rough. Our unsolicited advice to Ben would go a little something like, "Beautiful, beautiful Ben, you can't worry because things are too perfect! You should enjoy them!"

But he couldn't. When Ben came to Lauren B.'s room that evening, both appeared emotionally exhausted.

For Ben and JoJo's date, he picked up her up in a jeep and took her to a place called the Blue Hole. After splashing around, JoJo wanted to have a serious conversation about what their future would look like after the show was over, and she could sense Ben's hesitation.

"I'm so clear that I love you, but my mind is in a thousand different places," he said.

JoJo, who was formerly so confident because Ben told her he loved her, became really concerned. She began to understand that she couldn't discount Ben's feelings for Lauren B. at this stage in the competition, and being that vulnerable shook her to her core.

When Ben visited JoJo in her room, she desperately wanted Ben to give her a sign that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. When he didn't, the most dramatic bathroom conversation ever--despite anything you might've seen at prom--took place. Let us warn you that the next 90-ish seconds are definitely not easy to watch.

O-M-G, poor JoJo! While Ben said that he wished he could stay and console her that evening, he had to leave--probably to get ready to meet with Neil Lane who provides the gorgeous Bachelor/Bachelorette bling.

While selecting a big, beautiful rock, Ben seemed to have an aha moment about which woman to propose to.

"I love two women, but I'm really fully in love with one of these women," he said.

Well, clarity is one of the four Cs to consider when buying diamonds.

The final rose

With the ring in his pocket, the only thing Ben had left to do was propose-- and break someone's heart, of course! Someone who he repeatedly told that he loved! Man, this show is rough! We're almost forgetting why we watch...

We saw both women enter helicopters, but the first to step out (signaling that she would be the one going home to hit the singles bars) was JoJo. And while Ben said that he did love her, he tells her his feelings for Lauren B. were stronger.

Even though the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with just ended their relationship, JoJo couldn't bring herself to be angry with Ben.

After JoJo made a tearful exit in a limo, Ben dialed Lauren B.'s dad so he could ask him for permission to marry his daughter-- and of course he said yes. After Lauren B. arrived and poured out her heart a little, Ben got down on one knee.

He also told Lauren B. that she was his "person" too--finally! And because they are ridiculously in love, they playfully argued about which of them was the luckier one.

And, that's why we watch this show! Because it makes us believe in love again. Now, what will we do with ourselves until May 23 when our new Bachelorette begins her quest for love?
