C.J. Cregg (aka Allison Janney) crashed the White House press briefing
The White House press briefing room is a serious place where serious matters of state are discussed amongst serious journalists and the White House press secretary. Also, Allison Janney.
Yes, friends, Romans, West Wing countrymen, Allison Janney (aka C.J. Cregg from The West Wing) made an appearance in the White House briefing room on Friday. And she did it in character. Because she is a gift to us all and we don't deserve her grace and wit.
Astute West Wing fans will notice two references. The first, where she refers to "Josh getting a root canal." Sure she could be talking about actual White House press secretary Josh Earnest whose podium she was crashing, or she could be referring to the season one episode of the show where C. J. gets a root canal and Josh (Bradley Whitford) fills in for her to disastrous results. The second, when she talks about doing the "jackal" in her office is actual this piece of wonderment:
Which, coincidentally, she and Earnest once joked about on Twitter. And they could have actually done it this time. Sigh. We hope the actual White House Correspondents Dinner Saturday has more music.
