'America's Got Talent': Ryan Stock is hit with a flaming arrow on live TV

The things that can happen when your act is literally on fire.

Tuesday's live episode of America's Got Talent took an unexpected turn when daredevil Ryan Stock and his partner, AmberLynn Walker, took the stage.

After swallowing a sword and an arrow to warm up, Stock moved on to the main event. He swallowed an object with a target on the bottom as Walker watched, perched atop a pink ladder ready to fire a flaming arrow. Though she appeared to be focusing intensely, she missed her target.

After making sure he wasn't on fire, Stock pulled the object from his throat, and the camera cut to judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell, who were in shock.

Stock assured the audience that he was "OK."

"It just caught my shirt," he said. He also revealed it was the first time the two had ever missed.

Mandel wanted to be sure the contestant was going to seek medical attention.

"And you are in pain, and I would imagine after we finish judging you are going right to an EMT, am I correct?"

"No." Stock said.

"No, I am," Mandel continued. "You know we have to be responsible here."

He also encouraged viewers to vote for the act. "I think the fact that you're willing to do this, we gotta vote for you, but the audience just saw what can happen. I hate that I saw what can happen."

Stock addressed the incident on Twitter, saying the duo had a mishap, but "I am very fortunate to walk away from it."

America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
