Death Cab for Cutie has an emo anti-Trump song

How do we know Death Cab for Cutie's new song is about Donald Trump?

Well, there's the title, Million Dollar Loan, clearly about the "small loan" of money Trump said he received from his father to help build his fortune.

And there's the music video, which shows a Trump-like figure in the shadows, wearing a red tie and a "Make America Great Again" baseball cap.

And, um, the lyrics. And the song description. And, yeah, it's very clearly a song about Trump. Here's the video:

It goes:

"From a great height, he's looking down at his city at night. From gilded room of gold, marble and soft perfume. And he's proud to say he built his fortune the old-fashioned way, because to succeed there's only one thing you really need: a million dollar loan. ... Call your father on the phone, get that million dollar loan."

In a description of the music video on YouTube, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard writes, "Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being President of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for. He is beneath us."

The song is the first in the anti-Trump series 30 Days, 30 Songs, which will feature one song per day until Election Day.
