Flavors of York set to close Yorktowne Hotel
Have you always wanted to try a collection of York’s restaurants all in one night? Flavors of York will help you do just that.
This will be the fourth Flavors of York, and the second consecutive year for the event. It has the distinction of being the last event at the Yorktowne Hotel before the York icon closes for renovations.
“It’s such a great feeling to be the last event (before renovations), and we hope people come out and celebrate with us,” Vivian Lazar, Flavors of York chairwoman, said.
Stephanie George, Flavors of York operations manager, added, “It’s nice to hold (Flavors of York) there, and I’m excited to see what they come up with in two years when they’re back in action.”
The event is a fundraiser for Temple Beth Israel in York Township and its Doing Good for Goode project. The project helps support Goode K-8 School in York, which is named for a former Temple Beth Israel rabbi.
Last year’s event saw more than 500 participants, and proceeds from the event helped provide Kindles for the entire sixth grade at Goode. Organizers expect a similar amount this year.
“(The event) is a great way to bring community awareness to Temple Beth Israel, and it’s a great social evening,” George said.
About 20 restaurants are participating in the event, including the Blue Heron, John Wright Restaurant, Never Forgotten BBQ, Viet Thai Café and Tutoni’s.
“It’s a good way for people to taste the flavors of York,” George said. “They can try 20 different restaurants in one night.”
