New Coldplay album due Dec. 4; hear first single

Christmas is coming early for Coldplay fans.

On Friday morning, the band announced that they'll release their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, which they describe as "life-affirming," on Dec. 4.

And for the truly impatient fan, they're also streaming the first single, Adventure of a Lifetime. It's also available for purchase on iTunes.

Adventure has a slightly jazzier sound than we're used to hearing from Coldplay but the giddy, optimistic lyrics (with lines like "Turn your magic on" and "You make me feel like I'm in love again") give us an idea as to where Chris Martin's head is at these days, a year or so removed from his split from Gwyneth Paltrow.
