Bobbi Kristina Brown tragedy is the top Yahoo search of 2015

The top topic people searched for on Yahoo in 2015 was a calamity: the mysterious coma and death of 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, in a tragic reprise of her mother Whitney Houston's death three years before.

The annual end-of-year lists of the search engine's zillions of queries were released Wednesday, covering such obvious topics as celebrities, sports, politics, tech gadgets, fashion, TV and music, plus some not-so-obvious topics such as most searched cocktails, dessert recipes and bacon recipes.

(Those would be Old-Fashioned, banana bread and Brussel sprouts with bacon, if you're interested.)

But the overall top-searches list on Yahoo had Bobbi Kristina as #1, which may not be such a surprise given the piteous nature of her story and the fact that it dragged out over months and still may not be over.

The only daughter of Houston and singer Bobby Brown was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia home in January, remained in a coma for months, and died in July without ever regaining consciousness to explain what happened to her.

Her death remains a mystery, at least for now, although the case is still under review by local prosecutors.

After Brown, the top five searches included the iPhone, Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner), her daughter Kendall Jenner, and the video game Minecraft.

Actress Jennifer Aniston (who got married this year), reality star Kim Kardashian (Jenner's ubiquitous half-sister), singer Katy Perry, martial arts champion Ronda Rousey, and reality star Farrah Abraham complete the top 10 searches, according to Yahoo.

Incidentally, the top two male celebrities searched in 2015 included two members of the Kardashian clan: Scott Disick and Lamar Odom, with Kanye West at number 6.

The top two searched International Leaders and Influencers on Yahoo were Duchess Kate of Cambridge and her husband, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

One category of particular note: Top-Buzzing Obsessions/Crazes on Yahoo in 2015. No, it wasn't that supremely silly debate over the color of a dress in an online picture, nor Drake dancing nor Cecil the assassinated African lion, all of which were in the top 10.

The number-one buzzy craze was Katy Perry's Super Bowl Halftime Dancing Sharks. The faux outrage over Starbucks' holiday cups (because they don't say "Christmas") was in second place.

The Walking Dead walked off with the top spot in Top-Searched Non-Reality TV Shows, while Dancing With the Stars danced off with the top spot in most searched Reality TV Shows.

The most searched general question on Yahoo? How do you tie a tie? Not surprising, since it can be tricky your first time.

But the second and third questions were "How many ounces" in a gallon and in a pound? Apparently, millions forgot what they should have learned in middle-school.

Also included in the lists were Polyvore's Top Fashion Obsessions (tulle skirts), Flickr's Top Photo (SpaceX CRS-4), and Tumblr's Top Solo Artists (Taylor Swift).
