York factory whistle concert set

This year's York Factory Whistle Concert is set for Dec. 25 at Metso Industrial Materials, 240 Arch St. in York.

The 25-minute concert will begin at 12:15 a.m., concert organizers said in a news release Monday.

A 45-minute practice concert is scheduled to be held at Metso at noon on Dec. 19.

This year's Christmas morning concert will again be live streamed on www.yorkpafactorywhistle.com or on the Factory Whistle Master app.

Metso announced earlier this year that it plans to close its Arch Street manufacturing facility by the end of March 2016.

Jeri Jones, a spokesman for the concert's organizers, said they hope to be able to hold the popular concert at Metso again in 2016 after the facility closes. Whether they will be able to do so, or will need to look for another location, is undetermined at this point, Jones said.
