Recycled creations benefit Adams Rescue Mission

The Adams Rescue Mission is holding its first annual Upcycled Art Show & Auction this week. The event, which kicked off Sunday, runs through Friday.

The show was scheduled to coincide with Earth Day, April 22, said Heidi Acker, the Mission's promotion and development director, and showcases how throwaway items can find new life.

"Recycling is more than just throwing items in the bin," Acker said.

Members of the public are invited to come in and bid on their on their favorite works as well as vote, with the top three pieces receiving a prize at the end of the week.

All proceeds raised from the silent auction go to the Adams Rescue Mission, Acker said. The show is on display at Agape House in Gettysburg.
