Bell's Big Bed Race helps to raise awareness


The organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Seven teams competed in a bed race Saturday to help raise awareness about Bell Socialization Services, Inc.

The nonprofit helps homeless families find emergency shelter and transitional housing. It helps to provide residents with intellectual disabilities with round-the-clock care, and it helps to give support to individuals with mental illness.

The first annual Bell's Big Bed Race was held to help educate the public about the services it provides in York and Adams counties, according to a news release.

About 1,500 people receive help from the organization annually, the news release states.

The nonprofit is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
