Downtown York will soon have two new full-service dining options. Rockfish Public House and Iron Horse York are both slated to open in coming months.

White Rose Bar & Grill owner Tom Sibol and business partner Jeremiah Anderson purchased the former Maewyn's pub property last year with plans to make it into a seafood restaurant and bar that will feature oysters.

The group announced the restaurant's name, "Rockfish Public House," this week on Facebook and Twitter. The name was also listed, with the 110 N. George St. address, on a May 13 city business permit application.

The restaurant will open in August, Sibol said earlier this week. Anderson and Sibol declined to provide details about the restaurant's menu, though the restaurant's Facebook page did show a photo of some delicious oysters, suggesting that the restaurant is sticking to its original planned format.

Iron Horse

Meanwhile, another highly anticipated downtown York restaurant plans to open in September, its owner said Wednesday.

Iron Horse York will be on the first floor of One West, Yohn Property Management's residential and commercial building on Continental Square.

Calogero Elia, Iron Horse York's owner, said he is finalizing the menu for the restaurant, which he described as an American bistro.

Bone-in rib eye steak, venison, trout and artisan pizzas and cocktails are some of the items slated for the menu, Elia said.

He is hiring 25 to 30 employees for the restaurant.
