Hali Flickinger to be honored at York Revolution game

Olympic swimmer Hali Flickinger will be honored by the York Revolution on Monday, Sept. 5, as the Spring Grove native concludes a triumphant return to her hometown after representing the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

The 200-meter butterfly competitor will arrive at PeoplesBank Park after celebrations in Spring Grove and participate in pre-game ceremonies before the Revolution’s 5 p.m. matchup against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Flickinger will be escorted by members of the York City Police Department and the York YMCA Aquatic Club on her way to the ballpark. She will throw out a ceremonial first pitch that afternoon and be honored by the team and its fans.

“We have outstanding athletes in the ballpark every time the Revs and their Atlantic League rivals take the field, but it’s a true, rare honor for us to be able to welcome an Olympian,” said Doug Eppler, director of marketing and communications for the Revolution. “The fact that Hali is a member of our community makes it an even greater pleasure to have her here, and we’re looking forward to many members of her community having the chance to congratulate her and thank her for representing us all so well in the Olympic Games.”

Tickets for that afternoon’s game are still available at www.yorkrevolution.com or by calling (717) 801-HITS (4487).
