Belated July 4 fireworks light up Gettysburg

Better late than never.

Crowds of spectators, many still decked in patriotic gear leftover from July 4, set up their lawn chairs and blankets at Gettysburg College on Tuesday to watch the annual fireworks display, sponsored by the college and Destination Gettysburg.

Rain forced organizers to postpone the event, originally planned for Monday, but clear skies allowed for a bright, colorful display Tuesday.

In addition to the fireworks, which took place at dusk,  the celebration included live music from The Willys and The Gala Pops Orchestra.
