Stage camp presents 'James and the Giant Peach Jr.'

CHAMBERSBURG -  Summer Theatre Arts Group Experience (STAGE) Camp, sponsored by Chambersburg Community Theatre (CCT), will present "James and the Giant Peach, Jr. " on Saturday, July 30, at 2 pm and 7 pm at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg.

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, the play is a new take on a "masterpeach" of a tale. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

STAGE Campers range in age from 8 to 16 and during the one week camp learn the many and varied aspects of theater production from auditions through rehearsals to the final performance. The STAGE Camp cast of 60 children from the tri-state area is led by Laura J. Martin, Kelly West and Katie Moore.

General admission tickets (no reserved seats) are $10; children age 12 and younger will be admitted for free. Tickets will be available at the door beginning one hour before each performance – payment by cash or check only.
