Get cracking at Chambersburg's 21st Annual CrabFeast

CHAMBERSBURG - Prepare to chow down on as many hardshell crabs as you can at the 21st Annual CrabFeast , 3-8 p.m. Saturday, August 27 at the AMVETS Post 224 Picnic Pavilion, 750 5th Avenue.

Sponsored by Downtown Chambersburg Inc., the all-you-can-eat event is "one of our biggest fundraisers of the year," said Scott Fish, events coordinator.

The crabs will come courtesy of the Woodpoint Grille. Leave room also for barbecued chicken with all the fixin's from the Main Street Deli.

Refreshments will include "liquid art" (craft beer, for the uninitiated) from the Roy Pitz Brewing Company.

Come early and enjoy cornhole tables, a bake sale, a live auction (featuring several tempting cakes), and small games of chance. A special treat this year will be the one-of-a-kind T-shirt quilt made by Carel Fish. It is pieced together from various T-shirts that have been given to volunteers acknowledging their work at past CrabFeasts.

The doors will open 3 p.m. for mixing and visiting, with the main attraction - those delicious crabs - heading for the tables at 5 p.m. Mallets will be provided.

"This event usually draws about 350 people," noted Fish, "and all the proceeds go toward downtown revitalization."
