Dulcimer band to perform at historic church

CONCORD - Historic Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church is hosting a performance by the Strung-Out Dulcimer Band of Mifflintown, Juniata County, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.

Strung-Out Dulcimer Band specializes in old time country songs, old time hymns and even Christmas carols. Almost all of their music is played with a bluegrass flavor.

The group is made up of six mountain dulcimers and one hammered dulcimer, accompanied by one guitar. Other instruments which are occasionally blended in include the harmonica, autoharp, metallophone melodica, and plucked psaltery.

Everyone is invited. Dress is casual, and a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit the local food panty. After the performance, guests are invited to mingle with band members for acquaintance with the instruments.

Historic Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church is just to the left of Route 75 on Brick Church Road from Waterloo. Waterloo is just a few miles north of Concord, Franklin County.
