Brews news to know for National Beer Day

Need a reason to grab a beer after work?

Well, you’re in luck because today – April 7 – is National Beer Day.

Here are a few ways to celebrate in York.

Have a beer at Bros' Night

Celebrate beer drinkers' favorite holiday at York's recently formed Bros' Night – a chance for guys to hang out and have a beer at a different York County bar every Thursday. Tonight's Bros' Night will take place around 6:30 p.m. at BrewVino, a hand-crafted pizza joint in downtown York. Click the link below for details.

Try a beer and chocolate pairing

Can't make it out tonight? That's ok. We have a great list of beer and chocolate pairings you can enjoy from home.

What kind of craft beer are you?

Are you more of a stout or pilsner person? Take our quiz to see if we can guess your favorite beer.

Start planning for these beer events

Harrisburg Beer Week: Harrisburg will dedicate a whole week to celebrating beer this month. From April 22-30, local beer drinkers can participate in events, including the V.I.P. Beer Week Kick-Off Party, Battle of the Homebrew Clubs, Little Big Beer Fest and a Harrisburg Beer Week 5K.

Drive It For Disabilities Golf Tournament: Love beer and golf? Then, the Drive It For Disabilities Golf Tournament at Heritage Hills and Springwood golf courses is for you. On May 6, you can taste beer samples from several local breweries before taking part in a four-person scramble to benefit the Easter Seals of Central Pennsylvania.

Brew Kids on the Block: Taste samples from 20 newer breweries, including Crystal Ball Brewing Company, Gift Horse Brewing Company, Liquid Hero Brewery and more, at Brew Kids on the Block May 14. Food trucks and pit beef and ham sandwiches will also be available.

History Untapped: Mark your calendar for June 11. That's when you can enjoy craft beer and food pairings while checking out three-century-old steam engines and farm tools inside the York County Heritage Trust Agricultural & Industrial Museum in downtown York.

New brewpubs: Possibly the best news of all – keep your eye out for two new brewpubs to open in downtown York this summer. Collusion Tap Works is scheduled to open in the Royal Square neighborhood in June, and Gift Horse Brewing Company plans to open in late spring or early summer.
