Guide to American Craft Beer Week in York


Craft beer lovers' favorite week of the year is finally here.

From May 16-22, local breweries will hold events, offer specials and serve newly released beers to celebrate American Craft Beer Week.

Here's a guide to help you celebrate all week long. Cheers!

Aldus Brewing Co. (555 Centennial Ave., Hanover)

It'll be a battle of the British beers at Aldus Brewing Co. Saturday, May 21. On that day, Aldus will release three British-style ales – a British summer ale with ginger and coriander, an ESB and a mild 3 percent brown ale – just for American Craft Beer Week.

Hours: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; noon to 9 p.m. Saturday

Black Cap Brewing Co. (5 W. High St., Red Lion)

Stop by and try Black Cap Brewing Co.'s newer beers, the Belgian Dark Strong and the Weizenbock.

Hours: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Brewery tours: 4 p.m. Saturdays

Crystal Ball Brewing Co. (1612 W. King St., West York)

You'll find eight beers on draft and/or in cans at this microbrewery, including the new summer seasonal Jamaican-Style Wheat. It's made with mango and hibiscus flowers and served with lime.

Craft Beer Week special: $2 cans

Hours: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; noon to 8 p.m. Saturday

Gunpowder Falls Brewing (15556 Elm Drive, New Freedom)

Pair an authentic German-style Pilsner or Dunkel with a nice juicy steak. Gunpowder Falls provides the grill and charcoal. All you have to do is bring the food.

Hours: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday

Holy Hound Taproom (57 W. Market St., York)

The downtown York bar has 30 rotating craft beers on tap as well as a light food menu.

Hours: 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday

Trivia: 8 p.m. Wednesday

Tim Warfield (jazz): 8 p.m. Thursday

Liquid Hero Brewery (50 E. North St., York)

Two new releases – What The Floc Double IPA and Shirtless Dictator Russian Imperial Stout – will hit the shelves at Liquid Hero just in time for American Craft Beer Week.

Hours: noon to 5 p.m. Sunday; 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

Mudhook Brewing Co. (34 N. Cherry Lane, York)

Enjoy your pick of 10 craft beers on tap, including the newly released School's Out of Session IPA.

Craft Beer Week special: "Pick three" craft beer flight for $3.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday

South County Brewing Co. (104 Mill St., Fawn Grove)

Order food from the Mill House Grill next door and enjoy it with one of the craft beer specials below in South County Brewing Co.'s taproom.

Craft Beer Week special: Day Rider IPA, $3.50 per pint; Black Cowgirl double IPA, $5 per pint

Hours: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday

Wyndridge Farm (885 S. Pleasant Ave., Dallastown)

Raise your glass. Wyndridge Farm is joining in a nationwide beer toast at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19 to celebrate American Craft Beer Week. They'll have a Cherry Sour and the newly released Lemondrop IPA on tap as well as Wyndridge swag giveaways for the occasion.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday
