Food festivals to hit up in August & September

Dauphin County Cultural Fest

Harrisburg: The community is invited to a free, open air street festival celebrating cultural diversity from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Aug. 5 along 2nd and Market streets in Center City Harrisburg. The festival will offer a variety of ethnic foods, national and local recording artists, crafts, Kid's Corner and more. Bring your lawn chairs. For details, visit

River Town Hops

Columbia: Catch a craft brew extravaganza with food trucks and vendors from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 with a variety of brewers and food trucks lining Locust Street from Second to Fifth. Enjoy the music while you dine in the street, which is closed to traffic for this event. Tickets are $40 per person. For more information, call 717-684-5249.

Wine Tasting In The Hamptons

New Oxford: Come out and sample delicious food from several food trucks, plus great wines from local PA wineries from 1 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Hampton Fire Company, 5371 Carlisle Pike. Merlot & Flash Gourd’n Release Party

Middletown: Be there for the release of the first bottles of this year’s Merlot Wine and Pumpkin Beer from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at The Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey, 598 Schoolhouse Road. The release party will feature a food truck mash-up, an all-day music festival, vendors, a bonfire and more. General admission is $20, or $40 to include a bottle of newly released Merlot. York: Don’t miss York County's free admission food truck party under a new name and new management from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at Penn Park, 100 W. College Ave. Four square blocks of green space will be filled with a Foodstruck-inspired event featuring 40 or so trucks, Treasure Island Beer Garden, music and family fun. Chili Cook Off

Hanover: Spend the day tasting award-winning chili from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 4 during the Hanover Chili Cook Off at the Good Field Complex on N. 100th Annual Kipona Festival

Harrisburg: The 100th Annual Kipona Festival will take place Sept. 3, 4 and 5 at Riverfront Park along Front St. Events include a variety of food trucks, the Annual Native American Pow-Wow, canoe races, the Festival of India, karate tournaments, a Children’s Village, live music, unique vendors and more. Whoopie Pie Festival

Strasburg: Who can resist a Whoopie Pie? Enjoy a delicious day that includes more than 100 different flavors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn, Route 896, Lancaster County. Baltimore Seafood Festival

Baltimore: Come hungry for the 3rd Annual Baltimore Seafood Festival from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Canton Waterfront Park, 3001 Boston St. This waterfront festival will showcase some of Baltimore’s favorite restaurants, serving crab cakes, crab soup, shrimp salad, local oysters, and of course, Maryland blue crabs. Toss in refreshing drinks, live music, cooking demos, and family fun, and you have the Baltimore Seafood Festival – the only large scale seafood festival in Baltimore City.
