Fall is here, the weather is gently cooling down, and the smell of pumpkins and hay is starting to fill the air. Here are five fun events to fill your time this weekend:

Gettysburg's "Wine"tober Fest

Here is a great chance to taste different wines. Gettysburg's "Wine"tober Fest will offer hundreds of different wine selections with unlimited one-ounce sampling, entertainment, exhibits, and chocolates. Advance tickets are $19, and $25 if purchased at the door. The festival runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with three staggered start times at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Gettysburg Allstar Expo Complex.

Weekend suspense

With Halloween around the corner, here is something for those looking for a haunted adventure: Take a midnight tour of the Haunted Orphanage or Jennie Wade House on Friday or Saturday in Gettysburg. The 90-minute adventure aims to scare with 'terrifying stories.' Tickets for adults are $15, and the tours aren't recommended for children under 10.

The Outlaws are in town

The World of Outlaws return to Williams Grove Speedway for the three-day National Open, and Thursday and Friday set the stage for Saturday's big $50,000 payout. Time trials on Thursday and Friday start at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's program — no time trials — starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tour Utz factory

Snack lovers, take a self-guided tour at the Utz Potato Chip Factory and learn all about potato chip history and see how those tasty bits of goodness are made. The tour is open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday at the factory on 900 High Street. Admission is free.

Apple Harvest Festival

The 52nd National Apple Harvest Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday and Oct. 8-9 at the South Mountain Fairgrounds. The festival offeres food stands, entertainment, arts and craft vendors and a petting zoo, among other attractions. The event is held rain or shine.
