Weekend plans: Lancaster concert, York County parade

Each week, some York County locals share what they are doing this weekend. Some favor art, theater, craft beer, wine or music. Some simply like finding something different to do each week. Whatever your interest, see what they're up to this week in August - it might help you plan your Friday or Saturday night.

Mike and Sue Edmonds (will travel for fun): We will be attending the JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound concert at Longs Park this Sunday evening. They are a soul band based out of Chicago.

Mary Yeaple (parade lady): Saturday afternoon I am heading to Fawn Grove for the Annual York County Fire Convention Parade. I heard there will be bagpipes!

Edquina Washington (usually in downtown York): Looking forward to relaxing this weekend in #iloveyorkcity, while enjoying the Gospel at the Lake event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Kiwanis Lake.

Lyn Bergdoll (often at the theater): Summer is synonymous with Hersheypark, where I will be this weekend. I'm looking forward to this annual ritual of pure relaxation with family and friends.

JJ Sheffer (busy lady around York): YorkArts has temporarily moved their offices to CoWork155 while their Beaver Street facility is being renovated. This Friday, they'll combine their popular Artists' Feast at Creatives' Happy Hour into one event - a potluck-style dinner for artists and art enthusiasts - and it's taking place at CoWork155 (155 W. Market St.). This one is free and open to the public; guests are asked to bring a dish to share.

Jeff Gochoco (dog dad and home brewer): This Friday, I will play miniature golf benefiting the York County Children's Advocacy Center at Heritage Hills and then going to see one my favorite local R & B groups, R.P.M at White Rose Bar and Grill.
