Things to do in September in York County


Fashion gets top billing as York City Boutique Week returns for its fourth year, Sept. 1 through 5 in downtown York. Catch something for every taste on September 6 as Foodstruck returns to Downtown York and the Hanover Chili Cookoff takes over Good Field. Enjoy a tradition of fun and entertainment Sept. 11 through 20 during the annual York Fair, while families are invited to a free community day on Sept. 19 as the Central Penn Parent Family Festival comes to Cousler Park. Led by a select group of trike motorcycles, the month rolls out with the York City Bike Night parade on Sept. 25 through Continental Square.

Sept. 1 through 5

Shop small and independently owned home and apparel retailers Sept. 1 through 5 during York City Boutique Week in downtown York. Retailers will remain open until 7 p.m. each night and host in-store promotions, trunk shows, demos, hands-on activities and more. September 5, and 7 through 12

The entire family will enjoy rides, games, exhibits and food as the Dover Firemen's Fair kicks off at 4 p.m. Sept. 5 at Union Fire and Hose Co. No. 1, 30 E. Canal St., Dover. The fair is closed Sept. 6, but will continue Sept. 7 through 12. Nightly musical entertainment and carry-out dinners will be available. Parking is free on the fire company grounds. Sept. 6

Don't miss York County's free admission food truck party from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6 at Penn Park, 100 W. College Ave. in York. Four square blocks of green space will be filled with food trucks and carts, local merchants, live music, and a variety of flagship craft beer. Sept. 6

Spend the day tasting award-winning chili at the 20th Annual Hanover Chili Cook Off from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Good Field Complex on North Forney Avenue, Hanover. The event is held rain or shine, and will also offer live entertainment and family fun. Proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations. Sept. 11 through 20

Billed as America's First Fair, the York Fair will celebrate its 250th anniversary with a variety of family fun and entertainment Sept. 11 through 20 at the York Fairgrounds, 334 Carlisle Ave., West Manchester Township. Sept. 12

The annual East Berlin Colonial Day event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 along West King Street at Routes 234 and 194 in East Berlin. Vendors of traditional crafts will line the historic district, offering forged iron, tinware, baskets, handwoven textiles, copper and brass goods, woodenware, furniture and more. Sept. 19

Catch a festival that will feature free family-friendly entertainment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Cousler Park, 1060 Church Road in Manchester Township. Activities at the Central Penn Parent Family Festival include live music, educational programs, pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, sensory activities, stuffed animal health check-ups, story time, exhibitors, arts and crafts projects, costumed characters and much more. Sept. 25

Head to York's Continental Square from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 25 for a street party featuring a 2,000-motorcycle parade, live entertainment on four stages, food vendors and more.
