6 things to do in York this weekend

This weekend is a big weekend for entertainment in York County as the 250th York Fair rolls into town.

But, don't worry. The fair isn't the only thing happening in York this weekend.

Here are six events to check out in the county.

York Fair

The 250th York Fair opens today with animals, food, concerts, exhibits and more! New attractions at this year's fair include fireworks, gator nuggets, a dog show and a special 250th anniversary exhibit. Read more about what's new here. Once you've checked those out, don't forget to get tickets to one of the Grandstand stage concerts. Here are six concerts worth seeing. Otto's Kitcken & Cocktails Grand Opening

If comfort food and cocktails sound like your kind of night out, then stop by Otto's Kitchen & Cocktails in downtown York this weekend. The restaurant and cocktail bar specializes in comfort food and classic cocktails -- think Manhattans and Old Fashioneds -- from the 1920's. Otto's celebrates its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday. Read more about the menu and vibe of the place here.

DaNica Shirey sings National Anthem

York's favorite "The Voice" finalist returns to the spotlight Friday as she is inducted into the Leo Club Hall of Fame at her alma mater Red Lion Area High School. After the 6:30 p.m. ceremony, Shirey will sing the National Anthem prior to Red Lion's first home football game of the season. Details here.

Live Arts Festival

If you've never been to Ruins Hall in Glen Rock, this weekend is a good time to go. What was once an abandoned historic warehouse will be converted into a venue for live music, mural painting and graffiti art at Glen Rock's third Live Arts Festival Saturday. Food and beer will also be available. Details here.

Take a performing arts class

Ever wanted to try improv, learn ballet or take piano lessons? Now's your chance. Weary Arts Group is hosting free exhibition classes this month at Marketview Arts. This weekend's classes include improv acting Friday, piano lessons Saturday and jazz dance on Sunday. Details here.

Meet Lebanon Levi

Ok, "Amish Mafia" lovers. This one's for you. 6 p.m. Saturday is your chance to meet your favorite "Amish Mafia" star Lebanon Levi. He'll pose for photos and sign autographs at the Dover Firemen's Fair. Details here.
