Hanover artist turns wine bottles into Gullah dolls

The brightly patterned dress fit snuggly around the glass hips of the wine bottle.

Dressing the bottle is just one of the many steps Barbara Geesey takes to transform an empty wine vessel into a colorful, lively Gullah doll.

"They have such character," she said, noting that some will hold tiny fabric babies and others will balance baskets on their heads. "I have to name each one of them because it seems to help them come to life."
