2016 First Friday York themes announced
2016 is coming, which means a new year of First Fridays in downtown York.
The event, held from 5 to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, began in 2005 as a celebration of downtown shops, restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife hotspots, Downtown Inc. marketing director Meagan Feeser said. That year, about a dozen retailers and restaurants participated, hosting special events, promotions and live entertainment.
Today, more than 60 locations participate in First Friday each month, drawing thousands downtown. About 10,000 people were out and about downtown for December's First Friday and Light Up Night, Feeser said.
First Friday festivities will continue into the new year with 12 new themes for 2016:

May 6: Moms on Main
June 3: Block Party
July 1: Christmas in July
Aug. 5: Sidewalk Sale
Sept. 2: Fashion Friday
