Five things to see at the PA Garden Show of York

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the PA Garden Show of York this weekend. This year’s theme is Stepping Through Thyme, allowing visitors to experience the novelties of the past along with the beauty of the present.

Head to the show and check out these five things to help you take in the sights and sounds of spring.

Garden Market

In the bustling Garden Market, visitors will find just about anything to improve outdoor living including flowering plants, herbs, native and unusual plants, water feature specialists, lawn ornaments, art, herbal soaps, fairy garden accessories and more.

Hall of Gardens

The Hall of Gardens is a beloved feature of the show, with nine of the premier landscape companies vying for top honors. Only one will walk away with the coveted Best of Show award. Check out practical landscape ideas and beautiful plantings, plus have an opportunity to ask designers about the features in the Display Gardens. Wine tasting is offered this year, with a variety of local vintners to choose from.

Romantic Night Garden

Meadow View Gardens will present a Starry Night Garden this year. Take a walk through time/thyme in a night-time romantic setting with glimmering stars overhead. Listen carefully as echoes of nature relax your mind. Take a moment, and enjoy the bubbling brook/falls as colorful lights enhance the movement of water.

Live broadcast and talk by Mark Viette

Mark Viette, co-host of the radio call-in show In the Garden with Andre Viette will broadcast live from Memorial Hall from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday on WSBA. Back by popular demand, Viette will also speak on garden design at 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Be sure to get there early as seats fill up fast and he brings a limited amount of Viette Designer Daylily roots for lucky fans.

Digging 4 Diamonds!

Can you dig it? Come and try your luck digging through the dirt to find real treasures from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today by making a donation to benefit the 2016 charity of the year, the Veterans Memorial Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden in York.
