UPDATE, April 11: Revelers headed to the Fairie Festival April 29 through May 1 will need to take a detour near Glen Rock, where Route 216 is closed for a bridge replacement project.

Route 216, also called Sticks Road, will be closed at Centerville Creek near Narrow Gauge Road, about a mile south west of Glen Rock. Drivers should use Pleasant Valley Road (Route 616) or Fissels Church Road to avoid the area.

Unfurl your wings at Fairie Festival

Spoutwood Farm will welcome fairies of all ages as it celebrates a quarter century of enchantment at the 25th Annual May Day Fairie Festival.

The festival will be 12-6 p.m. April 29, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 30 and May 1, at the farm, 4255 Pierceville Road, Glen Rock.

Fantasy artist Charles Vess will be a special guest this year, along with live performer Twig the Fairy, Appalachian steampunk band Tuatha Dea, drum and bagpipe group Cu Dubh, and cabaret duo Frenchy and the Punk.

Put on your fairy wings and join in the maypole dancing, drum circles, parades, tea parties and more family-friendly activities. Enjoy the crowning of the King and Queen of the May, storytelling, a meditation labrynith, Fairie Treasure Hunt, nature trails on the farm and browse at more than 70 vendors of art, crafts and food.
