7 things to do in April in York County


April brings warmer weather and a chance to enjoy a First Friday Spring Fling. This month, the PA Herb and Garden Festival will offer tips and workshops at the York Expo Center, while the Jewish Food Festival will serve a variety of tasty treats at the York JCC . Catch a performance of Riverdance at the Strand, and celebrate our planet during the Earth Day Festival in Mechanicsburg. At the end of the month, head to Peoples Bank Park to kick off the 10th season of the York Revolution during their home opener on April 28.

April 1: First Friday Spring Fling

York: Celebrate Spring and experience First Friday activities from 5 to 9 p.m. April 1 throughout Downtown York. Enjoy specials, discounts and free entertainment courtesy of various shops, restaurants and nightlife. First Fridays encourage the celebration and exploration of all that York City has to offer. April 8 and 9: PA Herb and Garden Festival

West Manchester Township: Herb lovers, gardeners, cooks and crafters can check out workshops, numerous plant vendors, and more from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 8 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 9 at the York Expo Center, Memorial Hall, 334 Carlisle Ave. Admission for adults is $5 per day. April 14 - 16: York Train Meet

West Manchester Township: Check out a three-day train show with something for everyone from noon to 6:30 p.m. April 14, and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 15 and 16 at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave. Shop for trains, accessories, clothing, books and videos. April 17: Jewish Food Festival

York Township: Taste a variety of food, food, and more food during a cultural event from noon to 4 p.m. April 17 at the York Jewish Community Center, 2000 Hollywood Dr. The festival will include old fashioned corned beef sandwiches, beef brisket, knishes, kugel, and many more wonderful Jewish delicacies. April 19 - 21: Riverdance

York: Riverdance, the international Irish dance will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. April 19, 20 and 21 at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St. Drawing on Irish traditions, the combined talents of the performers propel Irish dancing and music into the present day, capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures. April 23: Earth Day Festival

Mechanicsburg: Celebrate the earth from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 in Downtown Mechanicsburg. The annual Earth Day Festival will include music, vendors, workshops and a variety of kids’ activities. April 28: 2016 York Revolution Opening Day

York: Don’t miss the 10th Anniversary Team Celebration and Opening Day of the 2016 season as the York Revolution take on the Sugar Land Skeeters at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at Peoples Bank Park, 5 Brooks Robinson Way.
