Since opening under the name the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center on April 12, 1980, the venue has held dozens of concerts, featuring every genre from jazz to rock 'n roll.

And, on Saturday, guitarist Jeff Beck — a former member of The Yardbirds who's gone on to have an influential career as a solo artist — is set to perform to a sold-out crowd at the center.

Here's a look at some other notable shows the venue has hosted throughout the last 35 years. (Note: Some artists have performed several times):

April 12, 1980: Ella Fitzgerald. After going through a $1.3 million renovation, the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center opened. At the show that night — which was delayed 30 minutes because of a bomb threat — Fitzgerald, along with the York Symphony Orchestra, performed. "That's something we need," Fitzgerald said, about the venue, "not only for people who like it, but for coming generations, something they, too, can look forward to."

Aug. 23, 1980: The Shirelles, the Drifters, the Belmont and Gary U.S. Bonds

Dec. 3 ,4,1984: George Thorogood and the Destroyers

Feb. 4, 1989: Tony Bennett. During a benefit concert, Bennett remarked how good the acoustics sounded in the venue. So then, he sang "Fly Me To The Moon" without any amplification and accompaniment.

June 24, 1989: Ray Charles

April 18, 1995: B.B. King

May 12, 1999: Willie Nelson. Nelson played more than three dozens songs — even after a 15-second power outage during the middle of the show.

The show was Live's first concert in the city since 1992 - when the band played a show at York College in front of 50 people. "I can't wait to play this show . . . This isn't going to be friends at this show. This is going to be our family," Live guitarist Chad Taylor said beforehand.
