Local makeup artist Kiuana Santiago spends most weekends making women (and sometimes men) feel beautiful. Santiago of Manchester Township first learned how to wield an eye liner brush from makeup artists at PRIMP Agency , an artist agency formally based out of York. While she still works with PRIMP clients, she now has steady freelance work.
She's prepped models for catwalks, musicians for photo ops and everyday ladies for special events. Past clients include "R&B Divas" star Syleena Johnson and Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis.
Santiago works by the motto: Simple is best. She wants her clients to recognize themselves when they look in the mirror. And, most of all, she wants them to feel confident.
"I'm keen on beauty enhancement rather than changing the look of your face," Santiago said.
Here are a few of Santiago's tips for a summer look:
Summer is all about sun-kissed looks that are fresh and simple. Avoid neon-brights. Instead, work with neutral palettes.
Go for creams instead of powders
Powder foundation or blush will clump when you sweat, making for an uneven look. Cream foundation and blush will stay put, giving you a dewy glow. (Blush tip: Use a wedge sponge to blend cream blush on the apples of your cheeks for a flawless look.)
Play up your lashes
Smooth eye shadow primer over eyelids. This will help liner hold. Add gel eye liner to your lash line with a flat eye liner brush. Then, use dark black mascara to make your lashes stand out. Don't forget to go for a waterproof mascara — you don't want that sweating off.
Gloss it off
Go for a gold lip gloss to finish the look.
