Paul Walker's daughter files lawsuit against Porsche

Meadow Walker, 16, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche on behalf of her late movie star father, Paul Walker.

Walker died in a high-speed car crash in November 2013 at a charity event for his foundation, Reach Out Worldwide, at age 40. He was riding in the passenger seat of a Porsche Carrera GT while his friend, Roger Rodas, drove. Both were killed in the accident.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the car was going 80 and 93 mph when it collided with a power pole and several trees.

The Associated Press says the suit claims the car, marketed as a street-legal race car, lacked a proper stability control system and safeguards to protect occupants and keep it from catching fire after a collision.

TMZ, which first reported the lawsuit, quotes the suit saying "Paul Walker survived the impact of the crash that took his life but suffered horrifically as he was burned alive." The suit also states that when Porsche Carrera GT crashed, Paul's seat belt "snapped Walker's torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis," and trapping him in the passenger seat.

The wrongful death lawsuit does not put a figure on damages.

In September, Meadow announced the creation of The Paul Walker Foundation on Instagram. The organization will provide grants and scholarships to students and researchers pursuing marine science education.
