York County high school musicals: See the list


York County high schools will take theater fans under the sea, back to the Roaring Twenties and on a trip to fly a kite in this year's collection of winter/spring musicals.

The season kicks off Feb. 26 — opening night for the shows at Central York, Kennard-Dale and Northeastern high schools —  and runs through April 10.

Mark your calendars now so you don't miss a single production.

Cedar Cliff High School
Production: "Thoroughly Modern Millie"
Synopsis: Travel back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City as Millie joins the workforce and experiences new love in this 1920s comedy.

Central York High School
Production: "The Little Mermaid"
Synopsis: When King Triton’s youngest mermaid daughter Ariel falls in love with a human prince, trouble stirs under the sea.

Dallastown Area High School
Production: "Mary Poppins"
Synopsis: When the children of a wealthy family are introduced to their new nanny Mary Poppins, they begin their magical adventures.

Eastern York High School
Production: "Fiddler on the Roof"
Synopsis: When three Jewish girls don’t want to marry the men their parents have chosen for them, their father must decide to honor his heritage or accept social and political changes as the Russian Revolution begins to brew.

Synopsis: A man experiments with a drug in desperation to find a cure for his father’s mental illness, but instead ends up developing an evil second personality.

Synopsis: An ugly duckling judged by the other animals leaves the farm to do some soul-searching and comes face-to-face with a hungry cat before meeting a group of characters.

Spring Grove Area High School
Production: "Seussical, the Musical"
Synopsis: Dr. Seuss’s many characters come together with Horton and tiny Whos on their journey full of friendship, uniqueness and love.

Susquehannock High School
Production: "Pippin"
Synopsis: A young prince searches to find meaning in his life, but he is faced with struggles of monarchy, love and war.

West York Area High School
Production: "Shrek"
Synopsis: An ogre makes a deal to save a princess, who was cursed as a child, in hopes of saving his home, but the princess was expecting her true love to come to her rescue instead.

William Penn Senior High School 
Production: "In the Heights"
Synopsis: The vibrant residents of Washington Heights are faced with economic struggles, racism and romance as they chase their dreams and celebrate their community.

York Catholic High School
Production: "Bye Bye Birdie"
Synopsis: A rock and roll singer is about to be drafted into the army but does a final nationwide event before leaving.
